Team Preview: Hoffman Estates
Following a year where they won over 20 games, Hoffman Estates has a strong backcourt leading the way. Three-year guard Torey Baskin (13 ppg) is a returning all-area player who is a skilled and quick shot creator and playmaker. He continues to draw college interest after a good spring and summer. Expect Baskin to be one of the better all-around players in the area this year as the primary point guard. Fellow senior Chris Mobley (7 ppg) is going to see increased responsibilities and will give them some energy on both ends of the floor.
Keep an eye on juniors Cam James and Ramon Rosario. James is a physical, 6-foot-3 lefty who can play on the perimeter or inside of 15 feet, and Rosario is an attacking combo guard who will provide value as an additional backcourt scorer and on-ball defender. 6-foot-5 senior Austin Lezniak will give some support up front as well. Watch for 6-foot-5 sophomore Bryce Smith, who is just scratching the surface of his long-term potential.
