Riverside Brookfield

Outlook:

With the departure of 7-footer Stefan Cicic, who is now at Tulane, Coach Reingruber’s team will have a new, guard-driven look to it. Expect multiple players with positional length who can get to the rim, shoot the three, and facilitate for eachother. Junior Cam Mercer was excellent as a sophomore, averaging 14 points a game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the skilled, smart guard take another jump this year. Senior Danny Loftus (9 ppg) is the other returning starter and another guard who can shoot off the catch or generate some offense off of the dribble. Loftus has some shake to his game and will be a reliable senior to lean on.

Fellow seniors Mantas Sleinys (6-foot-6) and Vince Dockendorf saw rotation minutes last year and will have larger roles this season. A fairly deep junior class should also offer support and depth throughout the season. The guard play will be there for RB to make a run.

Prospect For College Coaches To Keep An Eye On:

Cam Mercer (6’2 SG, 2026)

It didn’t take long for Mercer to make a name for himself at RB. There is a smooth efficiency with his game that you wouldn’t expect for a younger prospect. Now a junior, his fluid ball-handling, budding athleticism, and increasingly diverse shot profile should attract scholarship-level coaches. Unfortunately for teams in the conference, it looks like Mercer is just scratching the surface.
