Team Preview: Woodstock

Eleven seniors graduated from a program that is coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons. There is, however, plenty of reason for optimism with the core coming back. Star guard Max Beard (17 ppg/8 rpg) took the type of leap that I expected, emerging as one of the best players in the area. His shooting ability continues to stand out, but his improved confidence putting it on the ground, competing defensively, and rebounding has made a difference. He has continued to grow, add strength, increase his athleticism, and put himself in position for another notable bump in production as a junior. At this point, he already looks like a potential scholarship-level player if he continues filling out. 6-foot-5 forward Liam Laidig (7 ppg/6 rpg) is expected to have a monster year after playing a big role as a freshman. He has legitimate length and a solid skillset to create some mismatches.

JJ Stokes is the senior of the group and another returner who started every game last season. He will bring some experience and size inside. They have a lot to look forward to with their junior and sophomore classes, with hopes to compete for a conference championship this season and beyond.

Prospects To Watch:

2027 Max Beard (6’4 SG)

2028 Liam Laidig (6’5 PF)
