Standouts That We Saw At The Riverside Brookfield Live Event: Part 2

We were out at Riverside Brookfield all weekend for a loaded, well-run event during June’s first live period. Of the games that we saw, here are some of the standouts. We are releasing over 100 evaluations from the weekend, but will space them out over a few different posts to avoid too much scrolling.

Chaden Harvey | 6’1 SF | De La Salle | 2027

Harvey showcased strong scoring instincts throughout the event and consistently found ways to put points on the board. He played with confidence and looked comfortable creating offense when opportunities presented themselves.

His ability to score from multiple areas of the floor allowed him to remain productive throughout the game. He continues to establish himself as a reliable offensive contributor.

Zahari Threatt | 6’6 PF | De La Salle | 2029

Threatt displayed intriguing upside and showed flashes of a developing offensive package. He consistently used an effective jab-step series to create separation and put defenders in difficult positions.

Once he gained an advantage, Threatt attacked downhill aggressively and used his size well when driving to the basket. His combination of size, skill, and aggressiveness provides a strong foundation for future development.

Tommy Donahue | 6’4 PG/SG | Deerfield | 2027

Donahue was one of the biggest winners of the weekend and put together one of the strongest shooting performances. He consistently knocked down shots from beyond the arc and looked nearly automatic when given even a small amount of space. His quick footwork and repeatable release allowed him to generate clean looks throughout the event off of movement with defenders trying to lock him down. Playing in a heavier on-ball role for Deerfield this year, he looked good making reads and bringing it up against pressure.

Donahue played with a real toughness and confidence, absorbing contact while still converting difficult pull-up jumpers. He also used his length effectively on the defensive end and embraced a growing leadership role for Deerfield. His combination of shooting, competitiveness, and maturity stood out throughout the weekend. Donahue may have leveled himself up this weekend.

Drew Schnurman | 6’2 SG | Deerfield | 2029

Schnurman showcased toughness, athleticism, and versatility throughout the event. He handled the ball effectively, attacked the basket with confidence, and consistently finished through contact around the rim. His body control as a driver stood out against older competition.

He also pushed the pace well in transition and competed defensively while contributing on the glass. His willingness to embrace physical play and impact multiple areas of the game continues to make him an intriguing young prospect. Schnurman is also a standout baseball player who should have a successful dual-sport career for the Warriors.

Jacob Only | 6’2 PG | DePaul Prep | 2028

Only is a skilled lead guard who continues to grow into his role as a primary ball-handler after transferring into DePaul Prep. He shows a strong feel for the game and consistently demonstrates an understanding of angles as a passer when operating out of ball screens or driving situations. Defensively, he stands out with active hands and strong anticipation, which allows him to disrupt plays before they fully develop.

He moves well laterally and competes on the ball, giving consistent effort as a perimeter defender. Offensively, he showed the ability to hit mid-range jumpers and flashed some iso scoring ability when matched up in space. Overall, he projects as a developing lead guard whose two-way instincts and expanding offensive responsibility continue to trend upward as he acclimated to DePaul Prep’s system.

Blake Choice | 6’3 PG/SG | DePaul Prep | 2028

Choice is a two-way guard who brings consistent effort and defensive toughness on the perimeter. He does a good job staying in front of the ball and uses disciplined footwork to contain drives, while also showing the ability to disrupt rhythm at the point of attack.

Offensively, he is improving his consistency as a shooter at this stage. However, he has a workable shooting base and continues to gain confidence in his perimeter game. He is comfortable playing both on and off the ball and does a solid job operating off two feet to stay balanced in traffic. Overall, he projects as a utility guard whose defensive impact and versatility give him a clear pathway to minutes.

Gus Johnson | 6’8 PF | DePaul Prep | 2027

Johnson is a developing frontcourt player who brings size and a functional skill set to the interior. He has shown the ability to step out and make shots in spots, and he can score through basic interior moves when he catches in rhythm. He also uses his length effectively around the rim as both a rebounder and a shot-altering presence.

He continues to need added strength in order to consistently hold position against more physical frontcourt players. He has shown some pick-and-pop upside that could expand his role if his shooting consistency improves over time. Overall, he projects as a lanky forward who can space the floor in stretches while providing defensive length and rebounding presence.

Kyle Jacobs | 5’10 PG | Downers Grove North | 2028

Jacobs played with tremendous confidence throughout the weekend and never allowed early misses to impact his approach. He continued taking quality shots, trusted his preparation, and remained aggressive offensively. His confidence as a scorer consistently stood out.

Beyond his shooting, Jacobs brought a high motor that impacted every possession. He moved constantly without the ball, crashed the offensive glass, and found ways to create extra opportunities through effort alone. His activity level and competitiveness allowed him to contribute in multiple areas.

Owen O’Rielly | 6’1 SG | Downers Grove North | 2027

O’Rielly showcased his value as a perimeter shooter and floor spacer throughout the event. He consistently looked comfortable shooting the basketball and proved capable of knocking down shots from beyond the arc whenever given space. His shooting ability remained one of his biggest strengths.

He also brought physicality and toughness to the floor, competing well in traffic and making extra-effort plays that do not always appear in the box score. His willingness to battle and contribute beyond scoring helped him impact winning in multiple ways.

Miki Vasilakopoulos | 6’6 SF/PF | Downers Grove North | 2027

Vasilakopoulos displayed the versatility that makes him an intriguing forward prospect. He moved well for his size, showed comfort handling the ball in space, and flashed the ability to play both inside and on the perimeter. His skill set allowed him to contribute in a variety of roles.

He also showed smooth shooting mechanics and the ability to stretch the floor from the forward position. While continued strength development will be important, his size, mobility, and versatility provide a strong foundation moving forward.

Sam Hardman | 5’10 PG | Downers Grove North | 2030

Hardman played with a fearless approach that consistently stood out despite being one of the youngest players in attendance. The skilled left-handed guard attacked every possession with confidence and never appeared intimidated competing against older players. He handled the ball well, showed a quick first step, and demonstrated the ability to create offense for both himself and his teammates.

Hardman also displayed shooting ability from the perimeter and made sound decisions with the basketball throughout the game. Even as a freshman, he competed with toughness, fought for loose balls, and played with the type of edge coaches appreciate from a lead guard. His competitiveness, basketball IQ, and mature approach to the game suggest he has a bright future ahead and he has some of the traits to become the next point guard to emerge under Coach Thomas at DGN.

Philip Jones | 6’1 PG | East St. Louis | 2027

Jones was one of the most dynamic creators observed throughout the weekend. He consistently generated offense for himself and others while playing with pace and confidence. His ability to create advantages off the dribble made him difficult to contain.

Athletically, Jones separated himself. He delivered one of the more impressive plays of the weekend with a putback dunk that showcased his explosiveness and leaping ability. His combination of athleticism and shot creation makes him a highly impactful guard.

Terryion Webster | 6’5 SF | East St. Louis | 2027

Webster is a highly athletic wing who thrives when attacking downhill and putting pressure on the defense. He is most comfortable with the ball in his hands, where his explosiveness and ability to play above the rim make him a constant threat to score. Once he gains a step, he is difficult to contain.

Webster uses his athleticism and length to guard perimeter players while also providing weak-side rim protection. His shot-blocking ability and versatility allow him to impact multiple positions on the floor. His combination of size, burst, and athleticism makes him an intriguing prospect on both ends.

Dion Lane | 6’0 PG/SG | Evanston | 2027

Lane is a poised perimeter guard who plays with noticeable control and pace. He knocked down multiple three-point shots in this setting and consistently showed confidence as a floor spacer within the offense. He rarely forced action and maintained composure throughout possessions, even when pressure increased.

He demonstrates a strong understanding of spacing and attack timing as a decision-maker. He also operates with maturity in half-court settings and does not appear rushed when reading defensive coverages. Overall, he projects as a steady guard who can manage tempo and provide reliable perimeter shooting.

Vito Rocca | 6’5 SF | Evanston | 2027

Rocca is a high-motor wing who impacts the game in multiple areas without needing high usage. He plays with consistent energy on both ends and defends the ball with physicality and discipline. He also competes well within team defensive concepts and maintains effort throughout possessions.

Offensively, he is effective as a cutter, particularly on 45-degree cuts, and he finishes well when sealing defenders inside. He also shows comfort putting the ball on the floor and making simple reads as a connector within the offense. Overall, he projects as a reliable two-way wing who raises the level of execution and effort wherever he plays. With his physicality, defensive versatility, and connectivity on offense, Rocca is an easy target for Ivy League programs and other high-end academics.

Ben Ojala | 6’1 PG | Evanston | 2028

Ojala is a pace-setting point guard who brings structure and control to the offense. He consistently makes on-time passes and avoids over-dribbling, which allows the offense to stay organized and flowing. He shows a clear ability to operate as a table-setter who prioritizes efficiency.

He is effective at getting to two feet in the paint, which helps him stay balanced and make decisions when defenses collapse. He also has smooth shooting mechanics and a toughness that shows up in competitive situations. Overall, he projects as a steady lead guard who can run an offense with consistency and composure.

Layton Jones | 6’5 PF | Evanston | 2030

Jones is a young frontcourt prospect with clear long-term upside due to his athleticism and length. He competed consistently on the glass throughout the game and showed a willingness to rebound in traffic against older competition. He also displayed defensive versatility, as he was able to switch onto perimeter players and hold his own in space.

He is still developing offensively, but he has shown flashes of comfort handling the ball in open space. His physical tools and motor already translate on the defensive end, where he can impact possessions through activity and effort. Overall, he projects as a long-term developmental forward whose athletic profile and defensive versatility provide a strong foundation to build on.

Dillon Pompey | 5’8 PG | Evanston | 2027

Pompey consistently impacted the game with his defensive energy and ability to create pressure on opposing ball-handlers. He played as a pesky on-ball defender who stayed engaged throughout possessions and made life difficult for opposing guards. His activity level and willingness to compete stood out on every defensive possession.

Pompey showed the ability to create off the dribble and generate opportunities for himself when the offense needed a play. He also demonstrated comfort making jump shots on the move, adding another layer to his scoring arsenal. His combination of toughness, shot creation, and defensive intensity allowed him to impact both ends of the floor.

Leopold McKenzie | 6’5 PF | Evanston | 2029

McKenzie is a young prospect whose physical tools immediately stand out. He possesses a long wingspan that allows him to impact plays on both ends and consistently rebound in traffic against older competition. His length helped him secure contested rebounds and disrupt possessions defensively.

While still developing his overall skill set, McKenzie showed flashes of considerable upside. His frame and physical tools provide a strong foundation, and his long-term ceiling remains intriguing as his offensive game continues to evolve. He is a prospect worth monitoring closely moving forward.

Noah Marshall | 6’4 SF/PF | Fenwick | 2030

Marshall was one of the more impressive freshmen in attendance and possesses a frame that already looks advanced for his age. He finished plays through contact, sealed defenders effectively, and showed strong touch around the basket. His combination of strength and athleticism allowed him to consistently generate quality scoring opportunities.

Marshall also showed impressive speed when attacking as a driver and cutter, creating advantages with force and purpose. Defensively, he challenged shots and used his physical tools to impact plays around the rim. His combination of size, physical development, and long-term upside makes him a prospect worth monitoring closely moving forward.

Luke Vongluekiat | 6’2 SG | Fenwick | 2027

An athletic slasher for Fenwick, Vongluekiat was effective at driving closeouts and showing some explosiveness around the rim. He was strong on straight line drives and converted against size and length inside. There were times when he handled the ball in space and he made decisive moves to the rim.

Vongluekait was rock solid at the point of attack defensively, using his anticipation to stay in front of the ball and make extra effort plays. The senior leader for the Friars is a quality D3 prospect to keep an eye on this summer.

David Udiowod | 5’11 PG | Geneva | 2027

Udiowod was one of the more effective downhill guards in attendance, consistently putting pressure on defenses with his speed and ability to get into the paint. He possesses a quick first step and routinely created advantages through hesitation moves that allowed him to get all the way to the rim. Once he gained a step, he was difficult to contain.

He also showed a good feel for his pull-up jumper and kept defenders honest by mixing in scoring from multiple levels. Udiowod appeared especially dangerous in transition, where he was able to use his speed in the open floor and attack before defenses could get set. His ability to generate rim pressure stood out throughout the game.

Cody Rader | 5’11 PG | Geneva | 2029

Rader displayed an advanced feel for the point guard position and consistently played with pace and composure. He stretched the floor with his shooting ability and showed impressive range from beyond the arc. He also used hang dribbles effectively to create space and buy himself additional time to process the defense and make reads.

Beyond his offensive production, Rader competed well defensively and was active jumping passing lanes in Geneva’s zone defense. His combination of shooting, decision-making, and feel for the game makes him one of the more intriguing young guards to monitor.

Bennett Kammes | 6’2 SG | Glenbard West | 2027

Kammes established himself as one of the premier shooters in attendance and consistently demanded defensive attention whenever he was on the floor. He is a true catch-and-shoot threat who gets his feet set quickly and wastes little time getting into his release. Opposing defenses were clearly aware of his shooting ability, often extending pressure and making a concerted effort to limit his clean looks from beyond the arc.

Despite the added defensive attention, Kammes still found ways to impact the game offensively. He attacked closeouts effectively and converted straight-line drives when defenders became overly aggressive chasing him off the three-point line. His long-range shooting is a differentiator and he has the physical tools and IQ to become an increasingly impactful piece all-around. Already holds a D2 offer from Roosevelt.

Quinn Stallings | 6’2 SG | Glenbard West | 2028

Stallings put together a breakout performance this weekend and consistently made winning plays on both ends of the floor. He played with efficiency and confidence, showing the ability to score within the flow of the offense while remaining under control throughout the game. His perimeter shooting stood out, as he knocked down three-point shots confidently and looked comfortable stepping into attempts whenever opportunities presented themselves.

Beyond his shooting, Stallings showed toughness as a driver and willingly absorbed contact when attacking the basket. He also competed at a high level defensively, coming up with loose balls, deflections, and hustle plays that helped swing momentum. With a projectable frame, strong competitiveness, and an increasingly polished offensive game, Stallings continues to trend upward as a prospect in the 2028 class.

Hunter Thiel | 6’7 C | Glenbrook South | 2028

Thiel brought a strong interior presence to the floor and consistently established deep position around the basket. He did an excellent job sealing defenders and actively demanded touches in the post. His willingness to play physically stood out throughout the game.

He also set hard screens and created advantages for teammates through his physicality. His size and interior presence allowed him to impact both ends of the floor for a younger GBS squad.
