24-25 Team Previews: Addison Trail

***High school coaches can continue to fill out the Season Preview Form to provide information on their teams. This is not required to be featured, but it does help provide context to put together the previews.

Addison Trail

Outlook:

Addison Trail will once again be led by four-year standout Luke Smith, a scoring dynamo who has been one of the team leaders in multiple statistical categories. His ability to efficiently generate offense while absorbing heavy defensive attention is hard to find and part of why he will surpass 2,000 career points this year. They also return three-year starter Dom Renc, a solid defensive guard with experience, along with Matt Garcia, who averaged eight points a game last year. Senior shooter Isaiah Cortes is also back after shooting 42 percent from three last year. There is hope that the age and talent returning can help Addison compete for their first conference championship since 1982.

Key Players:

Sr – Luke Smith

Sr – Dom Renc

Sr – Matt Garcia

Sr – Isaiah Cortes

Prospect For College Coaches To Keep An Eye On:

Luke Smith (6’0 PG, 2025)

It has been apparent since Smith was an underclassmen that he had the skillset and poise to play at the college level. Whether he is knocking down threes off of the dribble, getting into the teeth of the defense to finish, or setting up teammates, Smith makes plays offensively. He also has shown innate rebounding traits and competitiveness to guard in the backcourt. Division 3 schools have zeroed in on one of the highest-scoring players in Illinois.
