Postseason play is right around the corner and we only have a few more installments of players of the week. For week 11, there were a number of explosive performances.
Ben Person (Senior Forward, Johnsburg)
The lanky, sharpshooting wing set a school record by nailing nine three-pointers and scoring a career-high 37 points. At 6-foot-4, he has caused mismatches in the Kishwaukee with his shooting and skillset. He’s a solid senior still available in the 2024 class.
Bryce Heard (Junior Guard, Homewood Flossmoor)
Heard helped guide HF to a tight victory over Lincoln-Way East with 31 points and 15 rebounds. The talented swingman also had game of 30 points with 10 more boards and 26 points while still making a case for one of the most impactful transfers in the state. Heard remains a potential Power-5 prospect.
CJ Worsham (Senior Forward, Christ The King)
The do-it-all forward showed his versatility this week in a few commanding wins. He flirted with a triple-double against Chicago Christian with 24 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists and celebrated reaching the 1,000 point scoring mark during the week while scoring 14 points with seven rebounds and six assists against Willowbrook.
Davion Thompson (Freshman Guard, Bolingbrook)
Thompson is wise beyond his years with a mature game that is both highly effective and simple at the same time. He had games of 16 points and 10 rebounds, another of 27 points, and was a standout with 26 points in a win over a previously undefeated Waubonsie squad.
Dwayne Flowers (Senior Guard, Prosser)
Flowers made a statement with a 38-point, nine assist game for Prosser. In a big week for him, he also saw his recruitment pick up with offers from Olive Harvey and Southwestern Michigan coming in. He is a wiry guard that can fill it up once he gets going.
Hamzah Shouman (Junior Guard, CPSA)
In a busy week, Shouman’s dynamic shot creation led to a few impressive showings. He had games of 33 and 22 while filling up the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, and steals as well. Since transferring in, he has made a huge impact for CPSA.
Jayden Riley (Sophomore Guard, Yorkville Christian)
Riley was a driving force for a big week for Yorkville Christian, including a win over a very good Wauconda team yesterday. He had 27 in that game and 36 points in a game earlier in the week. He’s well on his way to an All-State selection in 1A.
Johnathan Calmese (Senior Guard, Manley)
Another transfer that has stepped into a lead role for his team, Calmese has a chance to lead Manley to a deep playoff run. He started the week with 15 points and 11 assists before having games of 22 and 29 points later on.
Maddox Ritzel (Sophomore Forward, Nashville)
Among the most dominant small-school players in the state this year, Ritzel had another impactful week for Nashville. He went off for 29 points and seven rebounds and then came back with 24 points and 11 more rebounds. The physical, aggressive forward is breaking out this year.
Stefan Cicic (Senior Center, Riverside Brookfield)
The huge senior had a couple of huge outings during the week. Cicic compiled 28 points and 15 rebounds in one game and 20 points and 14 rebounds in another. A consistent double-double threat, Cicic will be a difference maker in the playoffs.
